Programs and Daily Schedule

Below is a description of our core program and an overview of the day to day activities of the center.

One year is all it takes for a child to transform for good.

Children of Madodo go through a one year program which prepares them to return to primary school. Through informal instruction counseling, Madodo seeks to prepare the children of Mathare for a brighter future. Children who remain at the center for one year are eligible for sponsorship. In coordination with the family, students are placed in a suitable primary school and are supported through graduation.

The Madodo program is rigorous and transforms our children into responsible, bright, and kind citizens of Kenya.

Daily Schedule

Morning

Children arrive in the morning and are fed  nutritious breakfast prepared by our culinary team and participate in a daily cleaning of our center. We believe this daily cleaning helps the child learn personal responsibility and promote a strong work ethic. These morning activities are followed by a morning class instructed by one of our talented social workers or international volunteers.

Noon

Following the morning class, children are encouraged to spend their free time in the center playing games, studying, or helping our staff cook and clean. This is a time for the children to relax and enjoy structured time away from home and off the street. This is also the time for children to bathe.

Afternoon

Following a filling lunch, children have more free time before the second lesson of the day. Lessons cover a wide variety of topics including: Math, English, German, CRE, Debate, and many other topics which prepare the learners for a bright and safe future.

Evening

The day is concluded with more free time to unwind from the day's activities before being sent home. After meeting with one of our social workers to review the day's events, the children recite our center's prayer before heading home:

Dear God

Guide us back home,

in Jesus' Name.

Amen.
